Don’t Do What They Say, Do What They Do

Posted in category Blogging Tips & Tricks

Don't Do What They Say, Do What They DoA lot of the top bloggers, marketers and successful online entrepreneurs frequently give tips and advice to others. Some do this directly on their own blogs whilst others do so via interviews and books.

If you’re like me then you will be subscribed to many of these blogging and marketing blogs and will agree that advice always carries more weight when the person giving it is successful. Though when reading these articles you sometimes need to read between the lines.

Blogger and marketer Paul Piotrowski recently spoke about this on his blog (which I recommend subscribing to):

Read, watch, study, and model the most successful people who are achieving the results you want to achieve. However, always remember that 98% of the value is in studying WHAT they do, HOW they do it, and WHY they do it and not just what they SAY they do.

I think that this is great advice as many successful people keep a lot of things close to their chest and don’t go too much into specifics, which is understandable as people tend to duplicate rather than innovate.

Imitation is the best form of flattery

They say imitation is the best form of flattery. This isn’t always the case, particularly from those who work online. That is, no one wants others to copy their original website.

However you shouldn’t be copying a successful blog, you should be paying attention to how the blogger developed the site and made it a success.

  • Look at the bloggers work ethic
  • Look at how they build relationships with advertisers and other bloggers
  • Look at how they interact with readers
  • Look at how they built their brand

If you examine what someone successful does and apply it to your own blog then I am sure that you will find success. This goes back to what I said a few weeks ago – ‘You Need to Make Sacrifices to Make it as a Blogger‘. And if you look at the lives of successful bloggers you will soon realise that they work their butts off on a weekly basis to make every new project a success.

Imitation is the best form of flattery

Don’t Do What They Say, Do What They Do

The headline for this article is a little misleading in some ways (which is common in the blogosphere!!). I am not suggesting that you do not listen to the advice that successful bloggers and marketers give on their sites and in interviews. I just believe that you should look a little deeper and look at the reasons why they are successful.

Look at structural factors such as the type of websites they run, how professional they sites look, how many websites they own etc. Also look at personal factors such as their relationships with other bloggers and marketers, how they interact with their readers, and how much they are directly involved with their websites.

Thanks for reading,
Kevin

No Support Linux Hosting for a Buck a Month

Posted in category Blogging Tips & Tricks

There are all sorts of costs that go into determining the price of any given product. You might have to consider the raw materials, research and development, marketing efforts, and distribution costs. Another major component goes into customer service and tech support.

Even if you never have to call into the company’s hotline, you are effectively paying for the service. That hardly seems fair, right? The people behind No Support Linux Hosting think so too. That’s why they don’t want to give you any tech support. They don’t want to have any real contact with you either. As a result, they’re able to pass the savings on to you.

Catering to the Experts

For all the people out there who are new to the blogging realm and can’t tell the difference between PHP and FTP, this web host is not the right fit. Instead, they’re catering to people who already know what they’re doing.

And therein lies the biggest selling point for No Support Linux Hosting. By eliminating the need to answer amateur questions from beginners and novices, they don’t have to invest in an extensive customer support staff and system.

How much savings are we talking about? Well, No Support Linux Hosting only offers one pricing plan: $1 per month per website. There’s no mention of bandwidth or storage, so those are presumably virtually unlimited.

Understanding the Billing System

Do you need help setting up WordPress? There’s a brief tutorial, but don’t expect anyone to hold your hand along the way. This is No Support hosting, after all.

In terms of billing, you buy a certain number of credits and you can spend these as you see fit. Each credit is one dollar, allowing for one website to be hosted for one month, and you buy a minimum of 12 credits at a time.

Interestingly, you don’t have to put any money up front to sign up. Instead, all they need from you is an email address. You’re sent a password, you log into the admin area, you buy credits, and you spend them. It’s all on you. That’s why it’s a buck.

A Simple Admin Area Too

Expecting all sorts of bells and whistles? You’ll want to look elsewhere. The No Support Linux Hosting system is designed to be as basic and simple as possible. The user admin area reflects this simplicity.

From this main interface, you can add the domains that are being hosted, buy additional credits, check up on your current charges, and adjust your user settings. Everything is straightforward and to the point. If you want more, you can do that on your own time.

Since No Support Linux Hosting is only a buck per month per website, developers can make a pretty coin through reselling. Charge your customers whatever you want and keep the difference.

This service is further enhanced, because each website hosted gets its own separate cPanel login. From there, customers can do whatever PHP and MySQL management they want.

Reliable Hosting on the Cheap

Clearly, No Support Linux Hosting is not for the faint of heart and it’s not for people who need any sort of direct tech support whatsoever. It is for “experts” who know what they’re doing and want to save money as a result. The server specs look pretty good too, utilizing a cloud-based system with RAID10 storage area networks.

At just $12 per year per site, I’d say No support Linux Hosting is worth a shot. Just don’t expect them to help you with anything.

You will probably be ready to talk about the problem from the point of view of the consumer on your e-list, blog or web page. You is not going to have to pitch goods directly. In spite of being high-priced they’re worth it. They could convince a customer to say yes.
